About Us
Southwood Bible Church is an independent Bible church where people are encouraged to believe in Christ as their Savior and to learn and grow in the knowledge of Christ through the study of the Bible. In addition to excellent fellowship, the main thrust of the ministry of Southwood is its Bible classes for all ages, children through adults.
“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage on another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Visited Southwood Bible Church while passing through Tulsa and it was amazing! Verse by verse teaching from the Bible. Paster Eric focuses on understanding the Words of God rather than “feel good” words of man.
Core Values
Our Beliefs
What we believe at Southwood Bible Church Oklahoma
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scripture to be the inspired Word of God, authoritative, inerrant, and God breathed.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18;John 16:12-13
The Godhead
We believe in one Triune God, existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, eternal in being, identical in nature, equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfections.
The Depravity of Man
We believe that man was created in the image and human likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and is alienated from God.
The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man; that He accomplished the redemption through His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice, that our redemption is made sure to us by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (John 1:1-2,14; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24-26; Romans 4:25; ;1 Peter 1:3-5); that the Lord Jesus Christ is now in heaven, exalted at the right hand of God. As the High Priest for His people, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor and Advocate. Hebrews 9:24; Hebrews 7:25; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2
The Personality and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Person of the Trinity who convicts the world of sin, indwells all believers in the present age, baptizes (identifying or placing) them into the body of Christ, seals them unto the day of redemption, and that it is the duty of every believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14;Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians 5:18). We further believe that the Holy Spirit in grace, apart from any human merit, sovereignly bestows spiritual gifts on each believer for ministry within the body of Christ.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. John 1:12; Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:36
The Church
We believe that all believers are kept secure forever. Romans 8:1; Romans 38-39; John 10:27-30; 1 Corinthians 1:4-8; 1 John 5:13
Satan
We believe that Satan exists, and is the open and declared enemy of God and man. Job 1:6-7; Matthew 4:2-11; Isaiah 14:12-17
The Tribulation
We believe that the Tribulation is the fulfillment of God’s dealings with Israel. It is Daniel’s seventieth week, the latter half of which is the time of Jacob’s trouble, the great tribulation. Daniel 9:27; Jeremiah 30:7; Matthew 24:15-21; Revelation 6:1-19:27; Zechariah 14:4-11; Matthew 24:15-25; Matthew 24:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:6
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
We believe that the great tribulation will be climaxed by the pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth to set up His kingdom.
The Eternal State
We believe that the soul and spirit of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation do at death immediately pass into His presence. There remain in conscious bliss until the resurrection of the body at His coming when soul, spirit and body will be reunited and associated with Him forever in glory. Still, the souls of unbelievers remain after death in conscious misery until the final judgment of the great white throne at the close of the millennium, when soul and body reunited shall be cast into the lake of fire not to be annihilated but to be punished with everlasting separation from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.
The Lord’s Supper
The two elements of the Lord’s Supper, the bread and the cup, represent the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and remind the believer that Christ died for all men and that He will come again to receive His own. Scripture requires that a partaker of the Lord’s Supper be a Believer in Christ. Luke 22:14-20; Matthew 26:26-30; I Corinthians 11:23-32.
Water Baptism
We believe that water baptism by immersion is designed to be a symbolic testimony of the identification of the Believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection to new life. This baptism in no way affects the salvation, the spirituality, or spiritual growth of the Believer Mark 1:5; Matthew 3:16; Acts 8:36-39.
The Responsibility of the Believer
Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is to love God and to love one another. This is only possible through the believer’s trust in the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5 ). The Holy Spirit produces in the Christian this love which results in a supernatural desire to walk in such a manner as to glorify their Lord and Savior; to witness to the unbeliever; a desire to know Him through the study of the Scripture; to serve Him and His Church; and to worship and honor Him. Romans 12:1-2; Matthew 28:19; Galatians 5:22-25
