Pastor's Pruning

Ever since I was young (which has been a long time ago) it drives me nuts when people are double-tongued (two-faced). Catholics are on the top of my list. I grew up with a few Catholic friends. They could not understand how I believed in a creator God and they as good Catholic boys believed the evolutionary 'theory'. Today is Fat Tuesday where all forms of debauchery is a go. Then Ash Wednesday and most importantly LENTEN (40 days of fasting and praying). Do we as Bible-believing Christians know these are all man-made holidays by the Catholic Church. Space does not allow me to go into all the problems the Catholic Church has caused and invented. The Catholic Church is in disarray with a Pope that knows not the Bible and calls the Genesis account of creation a myth to so many in its clergy charged with sex crimes. This is a call for all to return not to a man-centered religiosity but to God-centered Biblical belief. Let's not believe things because that's the way they have been. Use this time as a wake-up call to return to God while there is still time. Don't put an ash cross on your head tomorrow but go to the cross and believe in Christ alone for the redemption of sin, only He forgives not a man. Then the real occasion begins as you now live in the freedom from ritual and rite to a grace-oriented abundant life. I still am opened to bagels and coffee with the Pontiff.
